Bandelier National Park is located 50 miles north west of Santa Fe. Our drive will be 1 hour each direction.

What To Bring

Santa Fe is located above 7,000 feet. We recommend bringing:

• Comfortable hiking boots
• Layered breathable clothing
  -Rain Layer
• Sunglasses and Hat
• Two water bottles or Camel-pack (water to fill bottles provided)
• Backpack to stow and carry your belongings

Hiking Terrain

Hiking Terrain Elevation at 6,600 ft

Tsankawi | 1.5 miles

Involves some climbing and narrow places between rocks. We will climb 3 ladders along the trail.

2023 Tsankawi Closure*

Bandelier National Monument will temporarily close its Tsankawi Unit in mid-March 2023 due to extensive construction work. It is expected to reopen in late-October 2023. The final closure date will be posted on the park’s website once the construction schedule is finalized.
